COURSE OVERVIEW

This course focuses on building practical skills in a variety of computer applications. The applications will be studied within the framework of how they enable us to structure, store, process, access, and present information.

The main topic of the course is web page design. You will learn to create a solid, interesting and interactive web site. The skills you learn in this class will help to make you an asset to your organization and should allow you to work as a member of a web design team or be able to work independently to create and maintain your organization's web site.

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:

  1. Define the audience and purpose of using the web for publication.
  2. Design and present information on the World Wide Web.
  3. Create a web site in HTML format.
  4. Incorporate frames, animated gifs, forms, image maps, javascript, plug-ins and other multimedia where applicable.
  5. Understand some image scanning and manipulation for publishing on the web.
  6. Understand the technical issues of implementing and maintaining a web site.
